Welcome to Emanuel Medical Center.
For more than 90 years, Emanuel has been the heart of healthcare in Turlock. And while much has changed and is changing in health care, our commitment to quality care close to home has never wavered.
Nothing demonstrates this better than our Cardiovascular Services department. At Emanuel, we recognized the need to have emergency heart care available locally and we built a program from the ground up to rival any cardiac program in the Valley. In Emanuel's Cardiac Cath & Interventional Lab, area cardiologists and interventional radiologists can perform everything from lifesaving emergency angioplasties to complex non-surgical treatments to diagnostic procedures. Our cardiac operating suite is equipped with the very latest technology, and our surgical team performs a variety of complex open heart procedures. We’re even building two new state-of-the-art cardiac operating suites to be able to perform even more procedures here in Turlock, and to treat two emergency heart attack patients at once.
The same philosophy also built the Emanuel Cancer Center, which brought comprehensive cancer care to our community back in 2007. People from the greater Turlock area and Merced County no longer have to travel to distant cities to receive the very latest medical and radiation oncology treatments available anywhere. Through Emanuel's partnership with Stanford Medicine and our participation in national clinical trials, Emanuel Cancer Center patients have access to these cutting-edge technologies and treatments right here at home.
Looking ahead, Emanuel will continue to serve the changing needs of our growing community even as lower patient utilization, decreasing reimbursements and increasing rates of uncompensated care present challenges to hospitals across the country. The Affordable Care Act is also bringing changes to health care nationwide. In Stanislaus County alone, it is estimated that 110,000 more people will qualify for MediCal in 2014 as a result of health care reform. This infusion of newly covered patients will have a major impact on the delivery of health care in our county. That’s why we’re exploring a partnership with a national healthcare system.
While it’s impossible to fully know the future, I believe healthcare will continue to advance, evolve and improve. And Emanuel Medical Center, as it has for more than 95 years, will continue to advance, evolve and improve as well, serving our families, friends and neighbors in Turlock and the surrounding communities for generations to come.
On behalf of our physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers, thank you for your support.
